Seven Below

New soap collection boasts simple ingredients with a strong clean.

Sometimes less is more, especially for those who frown upon overstocked cabinet space and want a multipurpose cleanser to tackle both the body and the home. Enter Le Savonnier Marseillais, a Tampa, FL-based manufacturer and distributor of 100% natural household soap, body washes and body bar soaps. According to co-founder Elizabeth Attie, the products are formulated with a vegetal soap base and ultra pure water from the Provencal regions of France.

But the key selling point for the brand is its simple formulation. Crafted from pure olive oil, Le Savonnier Marseillais products feature no more than seven ingredients. Why use an arsenal of cleaning products, when one all purpose soap can clean your home, from countertops to dishes, windows to floors, laundry, upholstery and more, the brand contends.

A recent winner of Ad Week’s Product of the Year, Le Savonnier Marseillais is also Leaping Bunny and Non-GMO registered, appealing to the natural segment.

“We decided that instead of making a better mousetrap, we should concentrate on what works. That turned out to be a simple, 600 year-old recipe from southern France,” Attie told Happi. “In 2013 we launched Le Savonnier Marseillais All purpose soap with three main ingredients—water, olive oil and essential oils—and the simplicity and effectiveness of our cleaner won over the consumers and thus we were voted Product of the Year in the liquid soap category. We have perfected an ancient process for modern times.”

According to Attie, the idea was born with one simple goal: to provide the finest quality natural soap for household and personal use, the latter for all skin types after being aware of the importance of true natural products.

“We use only superior olive oil sourced from the finest of regions and offer a fragrance free option for the consumer base that often gets overlooked,” she said.

Le Savonnier Marseillais is sold at traditional grocery chains, natural health food stores and gift stores; as well as online on drugstore.com and amazon.com. Soon the SKUs will enter Ingles Markets, Publix and Haggen.

“We started with the motto ‘don't bite off more than you can chew,’ and as such, hired independent reps, road warriors and brokers who weren't afraid to pioneer new products, but there was one catch, they had to believe in and use our products, because nothing sells more than conviction and testimonials,” said Attie about the brand’s distribution.

Since winning Product of the Year, Le Savonnier Marseillais has introduced two new scents (Woodland and Citrus) and a smaller format all-purpose SKU in a 16.9 fl oz pump, along with a new Authentic Liquid Marseille hand collection.

According to Attie, the olive oil is the key component to the brand’s success. She told Happi, “Recommended by dermatologists throughout the world for combatting dry skin and other ailments, its incredible purity and moisturizing properties make is ideal for sensitive skins. In France, it has been trusted for generations to clean everything from hands to little faces.”
